Classic Cars

American designers did not tether their imaginations  when they sat at their drawing boards to design these great iron beasts. Backed by the post-war wealth their country enjoyed during the 1950s, it was not necessary for designs to be economically conservative. Hence, the appeal of these cars is in their excess - the country's success as a world power expressed in unnecessarily large vehicles dripping with chrome. Most of the cars pictured here are from that time and place. The 'yank tanks' remain iconic images of that era and of American culture.
